The English explorer, Captain Cook discovered Australia. He was a great painting artist too. In those times when the camera was not in use, his painting helped people to visualize other countries and people and cultures.

On the same island on another voyage, he was killed by the natives in an unexpected attack. It was believed that the natives thought, he and his men brought in some strange diseases such as TB

Australians liked him so much and in return, they bought the cottage where he was brought up which was constructed in 1755 in the English village of Great Ayton, North Yorkshire, by the parents of Captain James Cook, James, and Grace Cook.
They then dismantled it and piece by piece, brick by brick shipped it to Melbourne in 1934 and reconstructed it.
Captain Cook's Cottage, is located in the Fitzroy Gardens, Melbourne, Australia.
